14 Ways to Add a Little More Sizzle to Your Marriage
Wives, we all need ideas that motivate us to be intentional about spicing up our marriage.
Try choosing 1 or 2 of the following ideas to implement this week and next:
●Ask your spouse out on a date. Make the destination a surprise. Dress up and put on
perfume. Go outside and ring the doorbell to pick up your date. Flirt! Smooch! Hold
hands! Have fun!
●Get up early and make your spouse's favorite breakfast.
●Put sticky notes inside his car that say "I love you."
●Buy tickets or a gift certificate for you and your spouse to do something that your spouse
really loves. If you normally wouldn't be too thrilled to go, really get into it this time
●Give your partner a full-body massage. Play soft music and concentrate on being slow
and gentle.
●Send flowers (it doesn't always have to be the man buying flowers for the woman!)
●Look up your husband's favorite show and turn on the TV before he even
approaches the remote control.
●Prepare a candlelit bubble bath. Chill a bottle of sparkling grape juice (or champagne).
Bring the bubbly beverage, two glasses, and some chocolate-dipped strawberries to
enjoy while in the tub (if you have a tub-for-one like me, sit on the edge while he enjoys!).
●Leave a trail of Hershey Kisses to a secret rendezvous spot. He will enjoy the hunt for
YOU! When your spouse arrives, give him a foot massage.
●Write your sweetie a love letter. Give it to him with a hug and kiss before going to work.
●Book a hotel or bed & breakfast for a surprise weekend getaway.
●Spend a night without TV or any interruptions. Find a babysitter if needed! Spend the
time goofing off at home with each other. Play cards or a board game. Work a puzzle.
●Grab a cup of coffee and talk about your thoughts, feelings and aspirations. Light a fire
and snuggle by it.
●Resolve to go one day without nagging, arguing, etc. Instead, grab your spouse for five
or ten minutes. Share how much you adore, admire, love and cherish him. Give a long
hug.
●Pack a picnic dinner, go to a romantic spot together and watch the sunset. Tell your
spouse how much you cherish your marriage. Whisper that you are glad that you
married him. Then, give a hug and say, "I really love you so much!"
Not every idea listed here will fit your marriage and that's okay; choose the ones that do and
add a little spice to your marriage today!

Are You an Accountabilty Partner?
I read an article by Jeff Fisher on skills needed to become an accountability partner and it dawned on me that we need to be accountability partners to our husbands. Fisher defined accountability as not asking a list of questions but being involved in another’s life. Proverbs 27:17 states it well: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another”. What an awesome concept that your “help mate” can also become a perfect accountability partner.
1. Cheer – Your husband needs to feel that someone is in his corner. He does not need fake cheers to boost his ego; he needs to know that his wife will give him genuine encouragement.
2. Challenge – Your husband needs you to help him see beyond his vision, mission or big picture. He needs encouragement and a push to be better.
3. Confront – Confronting can be the hardest thing to do in a marriage. If one’s behavior is hurting the other, or one is willfully sinning— confrontation is necessary. God calls us to be “our brother’s keeper,” and our husband’s too.
4. Comfort – We can show our husband comfort by being a close friend, praying for him, holding him when he is down and demonstrating a continuous true commitment to him.
Each skill has it time and place for application. You may be stronger at one skill than another—and that is okay. By practicing good listening, in time you will know which skill to use in any given situation and become a perfect accountability partner for him.
